Low Protein Merry Cherry Trifle (PKU)
Method
- Empty the Glytactin BUILD 20/20 Chocolate into a tall bowl or jug, add the 1 tbsp of cocoa powder and the Bird’s Custard Powder and stir. Add enough of the water to create a paste and thoroughly whisk until the colour is uniform and no white powder remains. Whisk in the rest of the water until smooth.
- Place the bowl into a microwave and cook for 1 minute. Give the mixture another good stir and if it is nice and thick, set aside to cool, otherwise microwave again in 30 second increments.
- Take 5 cherries, cut into quarters and place in the bottom of your chosen glass. Once the chocolate mixture is cooled, spoon over the cherries and level off the top. Cut another 2 cherries into smaller pieces and sprinkle over the chocolate custard. Squirt the cream alternative over the top of the cherries, garnish with a whole cherry and a sprinkling of cocoa powder.
**You can also use the Glytactin RTD LITE 15 Coffee Mocha for this recipe. Instead of using any water or Smooth powder, add 3 tbsp of custard powder and ½ tbsp cocoa powder to the LITE in a microwaveable jug and heat in bursts of 60 seconds until the custard is thick. Leave to cool before assembling.
